Spoilers for Emily in Paris season 4 part 2 ahead. Emily in Paris' fourth season came to a game-changing conclusion on September 12, 2024, with the release of season 4, part 2 wrapping up the Netflix dramedy's first-ever two-part season. After the brief wait, the streaming giant's fashionable series returned with several exciting new characters (including a dreamy new love interest for Emily) and a setting switch, as Emily finally used her PTO for a getaway to Rome, Italy. There was even a cameo from France’s First Lady, Brigitte Macron, presumably part of the country's efforts to ensure Emily returns from Rome.
Of course, superfans who immediately binged the guilty pleasure TV show are now clamoring for news of Emily's future, especially after that tease of a possible change to Emily in Rome. Below, read on for everything we know about Emily in Paris season 5 so far.

Has 'Emily in Paris' been renewed for season 5?
Oui oui! Several days after season 4 part 2 dropped on Netflix, the streaming service announced Emily in Paris is officially renewed for season 5.
The streaming service shared a cheeky video of Emily herself, Lily Collins, on Tudum to celebrate the news. In the clip, the star—sporting a chic, blunt bob—sits at an Italian cafe and says, "There's no place like Rome," before taking a sip from an espresso cup with "5" printed on the bottom. Netflix also shared photos of the announcement on Instagram.
Creator Darren Star also shared a statement with Netflix's Tudum. "We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!” he said.
It makes sense that the show will return, since season 4, part 1 racked up 792 million minutes viewed in the United States in its premiere week, per The Hollywood Reporter.
In speaking to Tudum, Star confirmed that, although the show won't entirely rebrand to Emily in Rome, Collins' character will continue spending time in Italy. “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” he shared. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.”

He added that her Roman holiday allows the series "to have a bigger footprint," as well as "stay ahead of the audience and take them to unexpected places."
Mindy (Ashley Park) and Emily (Lily Collins) take a nighttime stroll in Rome in Emily in Paris season 4, part 2.
When is 'Emily in Paris' season 5 coming out?
An official release date for Emily in Paris season 5 has yet to be announced, but it will premiere in 2025. In mid-April 2025, Deadline reported that the show was set to start filming in May, with the plan to release new episodes later in the year. According to the report, the show is set to begin production in Rome, but will inevitably return to the City of Lights.
With season 5 filming throughout the late spring and summer, we'd bet we'll be tuning back into Emily's adventures abroad in the late fall.
Who will be in the cast of 'Emily in Paris' season 5?
Almost all of the series' central cast will return in season 5, including Lily Collins (Emily), Ashley Park (Mindy), Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc), Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), William Abadie (Antoine Lambert), and Lucien Laviscount (Alfie). As for last season's refreshing newcomers, including Eugenio Franceschini (Marcello) and Thalia Besson (Genevieve), Franceschini is the only name currently confirmed to return.
Unfortunately, one fan-favorite, long-running cast member won't return: Camille Razat, who played Camille. She was a series regular for the first four seasons as Camille, Emily’s onetime friend and main rival for Gabriel’s heart, but Deadline noted she was not listed among the season 5 cast. Since season 4 wrapped, it seemed possible she could take more of a back seat going forward or not come back. Speaking with Glamour following the last installment's release, Darren Star revealed that he "doesn't know" how much Camille will be in future episodes after she discovered that she wasn't pregnant with Gabriel's baby and instead decided to adopt.
"I think the idea that she thought she was going to have a baby, and then to have dealt with that disappointment, and then to discover there was a way to do it with Gabriel that he didn’t want to pursue—[as a result], she realized this was something that she wanted to do on her own," Star told the outlet. "So I don’t know what’s going to happen with her in season 5. I’m not sure how much we’ll see of that story right now. But that’s sort of where she’s heading."

In April 2025, Razat confirmed the news with a heartfelt post on Instagram. She shared a handful of photos of herself and her former castmates on set and spending time together in sweet behind-the-scenes moments. In the caption, she wrote, "After an incredible journey, I’ve made the decision to step away from Emily in Paris. It has been a truly wonderful experience, one filled with growth, creativity, and unforgettable memories."
After thanking the team behind the show, she wrote how much her character meant to her and noted she's taking time to focus on other roles and her production company. "I feel that her storyline has naturally come to an end," she wrote. "It felt like the right moment to explore new horizons."
In the comments of her send-off post, the Emily in Paris crew sent her nothing but warm wishes. Collins wrote, "Love you sister. t’s been a wild ride and an absolute pleasure. You’re a rockstar. So proud of you."
Laviscount, meanwhile, shared a lengthy, thoughtful note: "From day one you’ve been my rider on this show. Your passion for story telling, your dark sense of humour, your unwavering ability to stay true to yourself, when everything’s pushing you in a different direction. You’re special Camille and I feel absolutely honoured to of been able to dance with you these past seasons. Keep on shining. I’m going to miss laughing with you. I’m cheering you on in everything you do."
Camille may not appear as much in Emily in Paris season 5, according to creator Darren Star.
For a long while, it was uncertain if Bravo would be back. However, we now know that Lucas's story will continue, but the French star kept fans on their toes for a while. In 2024, he told the French publication Le Figaro in an interview that he was frustrated with Emily and Gabriel's romantic storyline. He also noted his concern that fans may tire of the couple's will-they-won't-they tension and communication issues.
"People see this mechanism coming from miles away, and I don't want to be part of a cog that tends not to consider the intelligence of the audience," he explained, per The Independent. "Life is short. It takes five months to shoot this series. Do I want to sacrifice them by telling [a story] that does not stimulate me? I don’t really like what it’s becoming and where this storyline is going."
B ravo also conceded that he doesn't have much control over his Emily in Paris character's arc, hinting that he may prefer to be in a project that gives him more creative input. "I don’t really have any freedom [in Emily in Paris] and as people are starting to give it to me elsewhere, I am getting a taste for it," he said, adding, "I don’t understand [Gabriel] anymore. But we’ll see...Darren [Star] has plans. I’m just following it."
Nevertheless, we will see the next chapter in Emily and Gabriel's story, so we'll have to wait to see if the show's writers heard the actor's gripes.
Who are the new cast members in 'Emily in Paris' season 5?
Though season 5 is saying farewell to a beloved regular, it's also adding new, exciting names to the cast. In May, Variety reported that Oscar-nominated actress Minnie Driver has joined the series. What's more intriguing? The British star will be playing royalty. According to the outlet, she'll portray Princess Jane, "a friend of Sylvie’s who married into a royal family."
We'll have to see if more names are joining the ensemble in the coming weeks.
Lucas Bravo has hinted that he's not happy with Gabriel's storyline in the latest seasons of Emily in Paris.
What will 'Emily in Paris' season 5 be about?
Emily in Paris' season 4, part 2 finale ends several threads hanging for the series to pick up in future episodes. Emily has temporarily relocated to Rome, where she'll run an Agence Grateau office and focus on their six-month contract with Muratori (a.k.a. her new beau Marcello's family business). Mindy is back in Shanghai for the first time in years after a viral clip got her an offer to serve as a judge in the same singing competition that brought about her self-imposed exile. Camille is neither dating Gabriel nor pregnant, but she has new ambitions to raise a child as a single mom.
Also, in a truly romantic cliffhanger, Gabriel is headed to Rome to try to win Emily back, after Alfie of all people (who's now happily taken) urged him not to "let your pride and misunderstanding get in the way of the greatest girl in the world." Gabriel will face an uphill battle, though, as Emily and Marcello are stronger than ever after they moved past Emily's work-life balance issues.
Despite that ending shot of Emily leaving her phone behind for a ride on Marcello's Vespa, Star confirmed that Emily's move to Rome is not permanent, in a post-season interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
"We’ll spend some time in Rome. But she did not change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome," he told the outlet. "Agence Grateau opened an office in Rome. They can be in more than one city, and Emily can spend time in Rome. She can spend time in Paris, too. She’s not leaving Paris."
Emily (Lily Collins) and Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) share a romantic moment in Rome in Emily in Paris season 4, part 2.
Starr reiterated that Emily will return to Paris while speaking with Glamour, and promised at least a few more episodes in Italy. "I think we will definitely see more Emily in Rome if we have a season 5," Starr told the outlet. "Emily [is now] there. There’s an office, and I think the story is taking us there for the moment. So we will spend more time in Italy, but it doesn’t mean we’re leaving Paris."
Starr also dropped some hints about season 5's potential storylines, including the reveal of Alfie's girlfriend and confirmation that Alfie will definitely be back in new episodes (yay!). When asked whether the mystery girlfriend will show up, Star teased, "We'll discover next season."
