Yes! Netflix announced the good news that Nobody Wants This is returning for season 2 on October 10, 2024, just two weeks after the romance's series premiere. The pickup isn't a huge surprise, as the rom-com was Netflix's no. 1 TV show for its first two full weeks on the platform. Season 1 racked up "26.2M views in its first 11 days of release, as well as seizing the zeitgeist and triggering a conversation," according to Deadline.

The renewal also comes with a shake-up behind the camera: Girls alums Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan have joined the series as executive producers and showrunners for season 2.

“I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story,” creator Erin Foster said of the renewal, “and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls… Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!”

When will 'Nobody Wants This' season 2 be released?

Get ready to let love into your heart this fall! Nobody Wants This season 2 will officially premiere on Thursday, October 23. The show's executive producers and the lead cast announced the news during an Emmys event for season 1 on June 1.

The hit series is returning much earlier than the typical Netflix hit. According to Deadline, the writers' room was "open for a couple weeks" by the time Netflix officially announced the series' renewal for season 2. Then, in early March, Deadline reported that filming for season 2 had begun, with the show "set to premiere on Netflix later this year."

Season 1 had a quick turnaround as well: According to What's On Netflix, the first batch of episodes was filmed between January and April 2024 before debuting in September 2024. We'll take it!

Who in the 'Nobody Wants This' cast is returning for season 2?

In addition to stars Kristen Bell (Joanne) and Adam Brody (Noah), all of Nobody Wants This's supporting cast members are set to return for season 2, including Justine Lupe (Morgan), Timothy Simons (Sasha), Jackie Tohn (Esther), Sherry Cola (Ashley), Tovah Feldshuh (Bina), Paul Ben-Victor (Ilan), Stephanie Faracy (Lynn), and Michael Hitchcock (Henry). Hopefully, D'Arcy Carden will return as Joanne's friend Ryann, to continue her and Bell's mini-The Good Place reunion.

Which new cast members are joining 'Nobody Wants This' season 2?

Nobody Wants This makes the case that everybody wants in on this ensemble cast with the amount of exciting names joining season 2.

Most importantly, Gossip Girl fans, we're getting a reunion! Netflix announced that Leighton Meester, a.k.a. Blair Waldorf herself, is joining Nobody Wants This season 2, where she'll go toe to toe with Kristen Bell again. (Or rather, for the first time, since Bell only voiced the titular blog on the legendary hit '00s series.) According to Netflix's Tudum, the Gossip Girl alum "will guest-star as Abby, Joanne’s nemesis from middle school who is now an Instagram mommy influencer." No word yet on whether Meester and her real-life husband Adam Brody will interact onscreen, but here's hoping!

When Meester was announced as joining the show, Netflix also revealed Bottoms standout Miles Fowler was cast as "Lenny, Noah’s Matzah Ballers teammate who gets set up with [Justine Lupe's] Morgan." We can't wait!

They're not the only new names in season 2. In early March, Deadline reported a couple of fan-favorite actors from hit HBO shows had been cast, including Succession alum Arian Moayed (who played Stewy on the Emmy-winning drama) and Alex Karpovsky, best known for playing the beloved Ray on Girls.

It sounds like Morgan may have her heart pulled in a few directions because not only is she being set up with Fowler's character, but Moayed's role will also be a part of her dating life. Deadline reports he has a "major arc" as Dr. Andy, a charming, highly regarded (particularly by himself) psychotherapist who might be the perfect match" for her.

Karpovsky, meanwhile, is portraying "Big Noah, an overly confident rabbi at Noah’s temple." With a cast that stacked, we can't wait!

What will 'Nobody Wants This' season 2 be about?

Spoilers for the Nobody Wants This season 1 finale ahead. Season 1 of Nobody Wants This ends with Joanne and Noah's future together in question. (Perfect for a season 2 renewal, less so for our hearts.) Everything seemed headed for a happy ending when Joanne crashed Miriam's Big Apple bat mitzvah and told Noah she decided to convert to Judaism. (Very Charlotte York from Sex and the City of her!) However, as the night went on, Joanne began to realize that she wasn't ready to make the extremely personal transition, and take on the pressure of representing the faith as a rabbi's wife. By the end of the night, Noah was on cloud nine after learning he was set to become the next head rabbi, but Joanne admitted to him that she was not ready to convert and didn't know if she would ever be.

Though Noah still wanted to work things out, Joanne ended the relationship, telling a devastated Noah, "You can’t have both and I would never make you choose." They appeared to both accept the heartbreaking reality as Joanne boarded the shuttle to leave the party. However, when she disembarked at the parking lot, Noah was already standing by her car waiting for her. “Well, you were right. I can’t have both,” he told her, before pulling her into a passionate kiss. And with that, Nobody Wants This season 1 ends.

Following that dramatic cliffhanger, season 2 of Nobody Wants This will likely follow the couple as they fight to make their relationship work against even more pushback. Noah's family will likely not be happy with him choosing Joanne over the head rabbi gig, and the sacrifice may weigh on Noah once the butterflies from that last kiss wear off. Meanwhile, Joanne still has a lot to learn about Judaism, and we'll have to see whether she ever decides to convert solely for herself and not just for Noah. What has the cast said about 'Nobody Wants This' season 2 so far?

In January, the Nobody Wants This cast reunited for the 2025 Golden Globes, where the series was up for Best Musical or Comedy TV Series. While walking the red carpet, Justine Lupe teased what's in store for season 2, promising that the writers' room is thinking of the fans while working on the new episodes.

"All I know is that they want to give the people what they want," the actress exclusively told Marie Claire. "They keep saying that over and over again."

Meanwhile, the hot rabbi himself has shared his thoughts about what that finale kiss means for Joanne and Noah. Speaking with Tudum, Adam Brody said that he saw the kiss as Noah promising Joanne, "I put you first. Everything else will work itself out, but I’m saying that you are my priority."

However, the O.C. alum added, "In the light of day, will he still feel that way? I don’t know. It’s an open question."

"I think that’s what the show can explore,” he continued. “What should he do? What should she do? What version of sacrifice is worth it? What constitutes growth, or what constitutes dimming yourself to be with someone else? It’s a sacrifice, but ideally, you grow together and you’re better for it—you don’t have to [lop] off a limb.”
