5 Fashion Week Outfits I’d Wear All Year
Streamlined uniforms that get the job done.

Friends! I’m cutting straight to the point because New York Fashion Week is here and we’re in the thick of it. There are long days and even longer nights, but I can't complain too much: I'm living for this injection of newness. This week I’m bringing you what I’ve worn to the shows thus far, plus some incredible Marie Claire stories in case you missed them. And make sure to follow us on Instagram and TikTok for behind-the-scenes moments from fashion month—like this one of thee Bad Bunny at Calvin Klein Collection or this one of a gaggle of Real Housewives at Marc Jacobs.
Anatomy of an Outfit
The forecast for the week was annoyingly dismal—“wintery mix,” rain, wind—so my dressing strategy has been equal parts cute and utilitarian. It’s also been plentiful, since I’ve left my apartment for some sort of work event every night this week.
MONDAY...
I worked from home most of the day, but left in the evening for Marc Jacobs. Five words to describe it: Dolls on a rollicking ride!
TUESDAY...
The Black in Fashion Council held their seasonal dinner, a wonderful gathering to celebrate Black talent in the industry. The dress code was all-black cocktail, but I totally missed the memo and showed up in a red blazer and jeans. Oops! I was definitely under-dressed, but I felt okay amongst friends.
WEDNESDAY...
We’re in the thick of getting the March print issue out the door, so I spent most of the day in the office reading pages. I had a dinner for Aligne (a new brand based out of East London) in the evening and wanted to wear this vest, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to stop home to change beforehand. My solution? I layered it over a turtleneck for daytime and then wore the vest on its own at night.
THURSDAY...
Though it snowed and then rained for the first part of the day, this was the look I woke up thinking about. The outfit was the outfit, no matter the weather. Believe it or not, I was warm despite only wearing a small leather jacket and no tights. Very thankful for my cozy hood and knee-high boots.
FRIDAY...
Taking advantage of the fact that it’s not a long day of running around and teaming a simple base look with a gigantic cozy fleece.
